Elsa retro print knit top

Well I have done a new design for my Etsy store. Yup you heard me right, I am churning out new things again! And I even did my hair, using the classic pin curl method. Though the curls started to disappear as soon as I left the bathroom - my hair looked much cooler the first five minutes!

So this is Elsa, done in a retro looking flower print rayon/lycra fabric that was a total score. While I love big bold prints, dots and stripes I also have a very sentimental leaning towards small scale flower prints. I think it harks back to my younger days when I spent a lot of time hunting down vintage finds. So this is a tribute to that side of my taste, a rather 40's silhouette for summer with accentuated shoulders and a peplum style bodice. This top is beyond comfortable with generous gathers, just as it should be. Also I did some subtle pearl embroideries details along the neckline.

  1. to make your curls last longer, i'd recommend setting them in damp hair before going to bed, make sure you put some product (like mousse) in your hair before setting them to keep the frizz away and make them last longer... if i keep the pins in for about eight hours and my hair is completely dry, it gives a curl that just doens't go away at all :)

lovely top by the way, even though i prefer to see my tops a bit longer, below the hips, the length you use makes me look a little boxy..

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this top! If I wasn't a poor student with barely a job to speak of, I would so buy your clothes. I'm in love with this top and I really adore your blue cardigan with the bow.

I wish you luck with your line. It's an inspiration!

Would it be okay for you if I write about you on my blog...I really think people should know about your designs...

  3. Annet: Regarding the length, you must have read my mind! I toyed with offering the top in two lengths because I know some prefer this style longer, me not though because then my legs look even shorter, lol! So I have just added a longer option now in the store. And thank you for the curl tip, I was just too impatient, I just sprayed some water and setting spray and left them there for 30 min. Clearly not enough!

    >>Stephanie: Aww, thank you so very much! I am even blushing and smiling as I am typing this :) Of course you can write about me on your blog, I would be totally honoured!

  4. i know exactly what you mean with the impatient stuff, that's why i always set mine before going to bed, that way i can't be picking at my hair all day until it's completely dry :)

if you make them nice and flat against your head and tie a scarf around it, it shouldn't be too uncomfortable to sleep on, you will just look a tad bit silly :D

  5. Hmm, maybe I should try and sleep with some curlers some time too. My hair is so straight that every time I try to put in some curls they are gone by the time I want to look in the mirrow (well, sort of at least). Even a pro hairdresser wasn't able to make them last. Sigh. Oh well..

Johanna, I love that top. The print is indeed really sweet!
