OMG winter!!

Regular readers might remember that I sometimes complain about how it's all grey, rainy and dreary for months and months in the part of Sweden where I live and how that kinda depress me. But for the first time in a very long time (years?) it is really cold and sunny here - and we got some snow too!

Today was an amazingly beautiful day and I got the chance to spend it outside since I was reporting on a story on "ice fishers" for my day job (not the right English term I am sure, but it's when you drill a hole in the ice and then fish through it).

And it is getting even colder this weekend. I might start complaining about this too, but for now I am relishing the change of weather.

  5. Yep - Ice Fishing is correct. Sadly I've been near an ice fishing hole once in my youth.

So rain..hmm. I think I could live I Sweden. My fiance has an uncle there (I asked him where and he said "somewhere in Sweden, I don't know exactly). I think the gray and rain must be better than the 7F temps we're experiencing in New England.

  7. >>Isaspacey and Kerry: Thank you for the info, I thought it would be something more complicated since we in Sweden call it "pimpla" which is a word that makes no sense at all!

Oh and Kerry, that is really cold! We are expecting similar temperatures here this weekend, the say it comes from the winds of Siberia! In the south of Sweden we normally have around 40-45F during most of the winter, so yes, much warmer.

    >>Gail: Thank you and Happy new year to you too. You know for the most part I would probably like to switch with you, since I prefer the sun and warmth!

    >> Ann: Thank you and Happy new year!

    >> Trudy: I do have a great day job, it's such a blessing to be able to say that! I get to experience so many things and meet peoples from all walks of life, things that I would probably have missed out on otherwise.

  8. Happy New Year! I much prefer the warm weather, well growing up in Cuba might do it to you, but if it is going to be cold at least there should be sun. Enjoy your sunny days! It is snowy and gray and cold in central Maryland today...
