Final previews

So I'm pretty much done with the designs for my first collection, four in total. The sweater to the left is basically a rework of the classic sailor middy. I love garments with sailor collars, but sometimes they can look a bit "costumey". So I made the design more casual and used a muted palette. I will probably offer this in gray too. The sweater is made of an amazing Swedish high quality cotton double knit that I've managed get my hands on. Of all cotton knits I've used the Swedish ones are consistently the best, they are thicker and keeps their shape for years and years. But sadly most factories have closed now since they couldn't compete with the lower priced fabrics from Asia.

The sailor stripes are made out of velvet ribbon to give the sweater a certain vintage feel.

The sailor collar

The second one, Leslie, I have already talked about. Since I've been wearing this cardigan so much since I made it I decided to include it. It's incredibly comfortable and versatile, plus it looks smarter than a regular knit cardigan. I also like the unisex vibe of it. Leslie might be a style that primarily appeals to a small group of Swedes (that would be me) or perhaps a mod or two. But at least I want to give the style a try.

Football buttons, knit rib and corduroy.

Okay, so that's it. Still working on some behind-the-scenes stuff and fretting a little whether this is a good idea or not. Plus some general overanalyzing: "too much black? too little elaborate stuff? not girly enough?". But I want be true to my style and you got to start somewhere. Also I have promised myself to not get too wrapped up in this project. Yes I want it to work of course, but it's not the end of the world if I don't get any orders (but if I don't even sell one tiny thing I will definitely be disappointed!). Anyhow, whatever the direction this might take, I will keep on blogging about my attempts to sell the designs.

I love the sailor top - you've done well with not making it costumey and I love the velevet ribbon.

Velvet ribbon? Couldn't get enough pain from the beautiful ribbon detail on your skirt? ;) I really like the sailor top, and you (I'm referring to the small group of Swedes) have a great sense of humor. It's going to be great, this line!
